KIT 01 · ENERGY FOUNDATION

Start with useful power.
Measure before you scale.

A practical starting point for essential loads, portable backup power and better energy decisions. Build a clear baseline now, then add solar, storage or automation when the next layer earns its place.

THE FIRST USEFUL LAYER

A small system with a measurable job.

The first objective is not to buy everything. It is to keep a few essential devices running, understand the real load and make the next investment with evidence instead of guesswork.

Starter energy kit components in a sustainable workshop setting

What this starter layer is designed to do

  • 01Provide temporary power for selected low- to moderate-load devices.
  • 02Keep lighting and communication available during an interruption.
  • 03Measure consumption so a future solar or battery upgrade is sized responsibly.
  • 04Create a documented baseline that can connect to a larger Sustainable Oasis system later.

This is intentionally modular. Do not connect unknown equipment, household wiring or high-load appliances until voltage, current, connectors and protection have been verified.

COMPONENT FRAMEWORK

Three building blocks. One clear first test.

Choose compatible products from a reputable merchant. The links below open partner searches rather than a specific SKU, so you can compare current Canadian availability, specifications and total cost before purchasing.

Core capacity

Portable LiFePO4 power station

The central storage and inverter layer for selected devices. Confirm continuous output, surge output, battery chemistry, AC voltage and recharge options before choosing.

Essential light

Rechargeable USB emergency lantern

A low-power, mobile light source for outages, work areas and safe movement. Prefer rechargeable units with a clear runtime and a replaceable or serviceable charging cable.

Measure first

DC power meter for 12 V / 24 V systems

A measurement layer for small DC loads, charging experiments and future storage decisions. Verify the meter’s current range and wiring method before connecting it.

COMPATIBILITY AND SAFETY

The kit is useful because the boundaries are clear.

A portable starter system can be valuable without pretending to be a whole-home microgrid. Keep the first test simple and have a qualified electrician review any permanent connection to a building.

Good first fit

Portable and low-voltage experiments

Lighting, device charging, small DC experiments and documented backup needs are appropriate starting points.

Verify before use

Voltage, current and connectors

Check every rating, polarity, cable gauge, protection device and operating environment before connecting components.

Professional scope

Permanent building wiring

Transfer switches, panel work, 120/240 V circuits and code compliance require a licensed professional in the applicable jurisdiction.

UPGRADE PATH

Start small. Document the result. Expand with purpose.

Run a baseline test

List the devices, record watts or amp-hours, and observe how long the system actually runs under a realistic load.

Add generation

Use the measured baseline to evaluate a compatible solar panel, charge controller or other generation source.

Connect the next system

Only after the first layer is understood should you consider larger storage, monitoring, automation or building integration.

INSTALLATION AND ADVICE

Want help choosing and installing the first layer?

Tell us the location, the essential loads and the level of help you need. We can review the starting point and identify the next practical step.

This is a project request, not a checkout and not a promise of availability. No payment is requested through this form.

  • 01Describe the space and the problem you want to solve.
  • 02Share the devices, voltage or backup goal if known.
  • 03Receive next steps before any installation commitment.

We will reply with next steps. This form does not collect payment.
