KIT 03 · SOLAR CAPABILITY

Make useful power.
Measure before you scale.

A practical solar layer for producing, measuring and storing useful electricity. Start with a defined load and a clear baseline, then add panels, storage or automation when the next layer earns its place.

This page is a buying framework, not a pre-assembled product or a promise of stock. Component links may be affiliate links; the merchant, price, shipping and warranty are shown by the merchant at checkout. Permanent electrical, battery and roof work requires qualified procedures and local-code review.

THE THIRD USEFUL LAYER

A small solar system with a defined job.

The first objective is not to cover every roof with panels. It is to identify a real load, match production and storage to that job, measure the result and make the next investment with evidence instead of guesswork.

Solar kit for producing, measuring and storing useful energy

What this starter layer is designed to do

  • 01Define an essential load and the hours it must run.
  • 02Match panel, charge-control and battery specifications to that load.
  • 03Measure production, storage state, current draw and losses before expanding.
  • 04Create a documented baseline that can connect to backup power and automation later.

This is intentionally modular. DC/AC safety, battery chemistry, overcurrent protection, disconnects, weather exposure and roof work require compatible specifications and qualified review before installation.

COMPONENT FRAMEWORK

Three building blocks. One controlled solar test.

Choose compatible products from a reputable merchant. The links below open partner searches rather than a specific SKU, so you can compare current Canadian availability, electrical specifications, certifications and total cost before purchasing.

Produce

100 W solar panel and mounting hardware

A measured first production layer for a portable or small fixed load. Verify dimensions, output, connector type, mounting method, wind and snow loads, shading and seasonal exposure.

Control the charge

MPPT solar charge controller

The control layer between panel and battery. Verify battery voltage, PV input limits, current rating, protection features, temperature compensation and monitoring before connecting it.

Store and measure

12 V LiFePO4 battery with monitor

A compact storage and measurement layer for a defined load. Verify usable capacity, BMS protections, low-temperature charging limits, fuse and disconnect requirements, enclosure and cycle specifications.

COMPATIBILITY AND SAFETY

The kit is useful because the load boundary is clear.

A solar layer can be valuable without pretending to power an entire property on day one. Keep the first test low-voltage and controlled; have a qualified professional review permanent wiring, roof systems, battery banks and grid connections.

Good first fit

Portable low-voltage loads and daytime duty

Lighting, monitoring, communications and other defined low-voltage loads are appropriate starting points.

Verify before use

Voltage, current, battery chemistry and weather

Check panel voltage, controller limits, battery chemistry, fusing, cable size, enclosure, shading and temperature conditions.

Professional scope

Grid-tied systems, roofs and large battery banks

Permanent electrical work, roof penetrations, grid interconnection and high-current storage require qualified review in the applicable jurisdiction.

UPGRADE PATH

Map the load. Build the baseline. Expand with purpose.

Map the load and sun

Record watts, operating hours, orientation, shading, seasonality and the consequence if the load goes offline.

Build the first circuit

Connect panel, controller, battery, fuse, disconnect and load only after the voltage, current and protection boundaries are compatible.

Connect the next system

Only after the first baseline is understood should you consider larger storage, backup power, sensors, automation or building integration.

INSTALLATION AND ADVICE

Want help sizing and installing the first solar layer?

Tell us the location, essential load, sun exposure, storage need and level of help you need. We can review the starting point and identify the next practical step.

This is a project request, not a checkout and not a promise of availability. No payment is requested through this form.

  • 01Describe the space, load, orientation and problem you want to solve.
  • 02Share wattage, operating hours and battery goal if known.
  • 03Receive next steps before any installation commitment.

We will reply with next steps. This form does not collect payment.
